When Google Analytics May Not Be Enough… there is AnalyticsView

I love Google Analytics. It is one of the absolute best ‘free’ software products I have ever used hands down. Recent improvements to GA released this month make it even better. Sometimes though, Google leaves a little something to be desired. In addition, they don’t make it as easy as they could for folks to ‘customize’ unique KPIs (key performance indicators) and other metrics as they could. In addition, the scheduling aspect of GA is quite limited.

Well low and behold folks, I think we found an answer to some of GA’s shortcomings. Granted this tool is not free (although pretty darn cheap at $95 per month) however, AnalyticsView created by the folks at EpikOne solves many of the shortcomings I have identified with Google Analytics.

After giving AnalyticsView permission to read from your various Google Analytics site profiles, (very quick and easy), AnalyticsView can generate up to 6 different reports with over 190 customizable KPIs available across the board. Some of these KPIs you can get straight from Google Analytics. However, AnalyticsView seems to do a much nicer job of ‘framing’ these KPI’s and showing them next to other relevant data inside the reports. In addition, you also have access to these ‘calculated KPIs’ not directly available in Google Analytics:

1. Adwords Campaign Goal Conversions
2. Top Ten Non-branded Organic Keywords sorted by Goal Conversions
3. Top Ten Non-branded Paid Keywords sorted by Goal Conversions
4. Top Ten Organic Keywords sorted by Goal Conversions
5. Non-branded Organic Traffic Percentage
6. Non-branded Paid Traffic Percentage
7. Average Revenue per Day
8. Percent of Total Conversions from the selected marketing initiative (medium)
9. Percent of Total Revenue from the selected marketing initiative (medium)
10. Sources from the selected marketing initiative (medium) sorted by Goal Conversions
11. Total Goal Conversions from Organic Traffic
12. Visits per visitor
13. Popular Content sorted by Percent Increase in Page Views
14. New Content sorted by Page Views

With the Pro version of AnalyticsView you can customize which KPIs you’d like to show on your reports. Best of all if a KPI is not available, you can request EpikOne add the KPI to the list. I did this and had a new KPI added within a day!! Your success may vary on this one.

The scheduling beats the heck out of Google Analytics. With GA weekly reports can only be delivered on Mondays for some reason and monthly reports are even more limited. With AnalyticsView you can schedule the reports to be delivered whenver you’d like, just as it should be. You can also White Label the reports so that your logo is included on each one.

I have only used AnalyticsView for about 2 weeks now but so far I am very impressed. Check it out and let me know what you think.

  1. Just a quick thanks to Mike for helping us to further improve AnalyticsView since this post. Along with additional new reports and KPIs, we improved the dashboard to be a GA Tool Set of sorts by adding several of our own helper tools and resources. We also enhanced the auto-scheduling and created a PIN protection option for shared report URLs. There’s also fun stuff we’re looking to add in upcoming months. Thanks again for your feedback Mike!
