Mike Belasco

Mike Belasco

President While SEO and SEM strategies were still younger than his daughter (she's three), Mike began his journey towards founding seOverflow. Honing his skills in the early 90s during the dot com boom, he worked for online industry giants like Sun Microsystems and Level 3 Communications. He jumped ship from corporate America and decided to captain his own boat, establishing relationships with web designers and other online marketing professionals. Mike's also an avid fly fisherman, which might explain the boat analogy. Or maybe the copywriter just felt like making a boat analogy. In any case, Mike found a niche assisting web designers and other marketing professionals expand their offering to include SEO services without having to specialize in the ever-changing space. When it comes to geeks, Mike's a big one. And other people think he's a big 'ol geek, too. As a subject matter expert, Mike regularly speaks at national industry events and conferences including: Search Engine Strategies (SES), Search Marketing Expo (SMX), Search Engine Marketing Professionals of Portland (SEMpdx), and  Business Marketing Association (BMA) events.

Geek Stuff: Contributing Writer - WebProNews.com and LocalSearchNews.net, certified Yahoo Search Marketing Ambassador, B.S. Business Information Systems – University of Colorado - Boulder.

His favorite SEO problem to solve: Both technical SEO problems as well as developing and executing creative link bait campaigns.

If Mike was an animal he would be a ...... A fish or a dog. Or maybe a dog that swims a lot.

Random fact about Mike: His grandfather invented the toilet on the Space Shuttle.

What will his daughter serve you for tea? Cappuccino rice (we don’t know what that is, either)

seOverflow A Finalist for Denver’s Fastest Growing Companies List

July 16th, 2010

seOverflow was a top 10 finalist in our revenue tier for Denver’s 2010 Fastest Growing Companies list published by the Denver Business Journal. Congratulations to all the finalists and of course the winners. It is such an honor to be recognized in this elite group. Another great experience was being part of the “pocket of optimism” at the awards breakfast yesterday.

Fastest Growing Companies Denver

Of other interest there was at least one marketing company as a finalist in each of the five revenue tiers except one. In our tier there was 2 search related companies, 1 social media company, 2 agencies with a specialty in interactive, and 1 web design company. That I think speaks volumes about our industry and the state of our economy. I hope in addition to the marketing companies in the next few years we will see more and more alternative energy companies as finalists and winners on the list.
Thank you very much to all of our clients, partners, and vendors who have helped us grow and grow so fast. We owe it all to you!

Local Search Ranking Factors 2010 – seOverflow Contributes

June 8th, 2010

Local Search Ranking Factor ContributorDavid Mihm has once again compiled and released his annual Local Search Ranking Factors Survey. seOverflow’s Mike Belasco and Mary Bowling both participated for the third year in a row (second as both seOverflow’ers). This year contained many more comments by participants than previous years and David also increased the number of ranking factors for all of us to evaluate. I learn something every time I read this doc and anyone who is interested in local search should keep this bookmark handy. Thanks again to David for asking us here are seOverflow to participate and for all the time he put in to organizing, compiling and designing (its puuurrrty) the results. Read More
