I’m excited to announce a new product that I’ve developed during my brief tenure here at seOverflow, seOverview:Local Edition. This personalized report was created to help brick and mortar businesses rank better for searches made by the people nearby them for their goods and services. This is the critical sweet spot for local businesses, as it gets their information in front of their potential customers.

Recently, Google modified its algorithm in way that makes a block of local businesses appear more often and for more searches.  This section of the search results sometimes contains 3 business listings, but more often, 10 listings are displayed. Therefore, it is known as the Google 10 Pack.

The Google Local Ten Pack's place in the Universal Search Results

The Google Local Ten Pack's place in the Universal Search Results

Quite frequently, this list appears near the top of the page, just beneath the first 2-3 sponsored listings, although it is sometimes displayed a bit further down. In either case, it now occupies a healthy chunk of the real estate on the first page of the Universal Search results and pushes the regular listings down, down, down- often below the fold.

Searchers are seeing this change. Local business owners are seeing it, as well, and are wondering how they can appear in the Google 10 pack of local results alongside their competitors. If you or the businesses you market need help unraveling the complexities of ranking in the 10 pack, then this report is just what you’re looking for!
